It turns a one-off inspection into a condition record you can put in front of a client.
It compares pixels, not pavement. Shoot from the same spot, at the same height, in similar light. A different angle or a wet surface will register as change across the whole frame, because to the maths it genuinely is different. This measures what moved between two photographs — deciding whether that movement is a defect is still your job.
Lower catches finer changes and more noise. 0.10 suits daylight photos of asphalt.
